How Many Rounds of Amends/Edits is ok to Ask For?

Brands, agencies, producers and managers have all experienced varying levels of frustration when trying to get that campaign post “just right”.

So how do you get it perfect on the first try? Is there a way to ensure that everyone is on exactly the same page before content is even produced? And if not, how many edits/re-shoots can agencies/brands realistically expect from a digital producer?

Following on from our blog on Delivering a Brief to a Digital Producer, if the brand/agency has supplied the management and producer with a brief clearly outlining delivery dates, key messaging/tags, budget and assets required then it should be a fairly smooth process.

To make this process as easy and efficient as possible, Sharper will send over a treatment/storyboard for any long-form content and top-line ideas for any images/stories for approval. After reviewing these and perhaps going back and forward once or twice, the producer and agency/brand should be aligned as closely as possible.

This is critical as re-shooting in a lot of cases, imagery and especially video, can be very difficult and in some cases, not possible. An agreement may stipulate 2 rounds of amends (usually the maximum), but it’s important to establish early on if these are just edits, if so - it’s usually no problem and acceptable however, if the brand/agency means re-shoots then this can become extremely problematic and by following the points above, re-shoots should be avoided at all costs.
